Lodge Attendant/Shuttle Truck Driver

  • The Keppoch is currently hiring for the positions of Lodge Attendant/Shuttle Driver. This position will start at the end of May until the end August, with the possibility of extending into the fall/winter. The lodge is a comfortable place to relax and is an important part of the Keppoch experience. As Lodge Attendant/Shuttle Driver, you will play an essential role in visitor satisfaction and experience by providing friendly and inviting service and a clean lodge environment for all to enjoy.

    Responsibilities:

    Your responsibilities as Lodge Attendant/Shuttle Driver include but are not limited to:

    ·        Opening and closing the lodge.

    ·        Maintaining the general cleanliness of the lodge using the cleaning checklists provided (washrooms, floors, kitchen, etc.).

    ·        Making and maintaining the fire in the lodge.

    ·        Greeting members and guests and answering their questions.

    ·        Facilitating the purchase of memberships, day passes and rental equipment.

    ·        Using the kitchen to serve hot chocolate and coffee and fulfill other guest needs.

    ·        Provide excellent customer service.

    ·        Ability to lift ~ 50 lbs and overhead for shuttle bike service.

    ·        Demonstrate ability towing a trailer behind a 4x4 vehicle is considered at asset, but not required.

    About the Keppoch:

    The Keppoch is a year-round, multi-sport, multi-use recreational facility located near the community of Antigonish in northeastern Nova Scotia. Operated since 2010 by the Board of Directors of the charitable Positive Action for Keppoch (PAK) Society, the Keppoch has over 40 km of multi-use trails on 480 acres land. These include dramatic downhill mountain bike trails as well as trails for hiking, trail running and cross-country riding, and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking in the winter. Other activities at the Keppoch include disk golf, climbing rocks, a slack line, a wheelchair accessible trail, a pump track, and a lake for swimming. Events are held regularly and day camps and other programming for children happen throughout the year. The Keppoch is used by members who pay an annual fee, drop-in visitors who buy a day pass, and community and private groups. The occasional non-sporting activities at the Keppoch include theatre, art expositions, music festivals, and nature and outdoor education programs.

    The Keppoch provides accessible and inclusive outdoor recreation and education opportunities for local residents and a diverse group of visitors of all ages, while conserving access to environmentally sustainable managed wilderness areas and creating economic stimulation. We do this by constructing and maintaining a network of quality non-motorized trails for all ability levels and offering and supporting a range of events, programs, and activities.
